Biking Through The Years
There is something so calming about riding a bike. Maybe it's the wind-in-your-hair, ride-wherever-you-want mentality that we miss sitting in our car. Maybe it's the feeling of accomplishment that we get from exercising while we travel. Or maybe it just reminds us of our youth where riding Bicycles meant freedom from responsibility. Regardless, whether it be a beach cruises, a lowrider, Tandem or even one of those with the old wicker baskets, a bike is something that we cherise even as we get into our later years when we can't ride as far as we used to.
The thing about Bicycles is, if you think about them, they have so many different uses. Besides the obvious point A to point B aspects, bicycles can be used as a cheap and green option when driving your car gets too expensive. It can be used for deliveries or public transportation purposes. But even with all those uses, bicycles are known mostly as one of the best weekend recreation tools out there. The reason for this: because bikes can be used everywhere from mountain trails to wide open fields to riding along the boardwalk on a sandy beach.
Another great thing about Bicycles is that they age appropriate for just about anyone. It's a right of passage when your a child to have your mom or dad teach you how to ride a bike. Then from the time you're out of training wheels, the world is your oyster, first to the end of the block, then to the end of the neighborhood and finally wherever you would ike to roam. When you grow up you do things like bike through National Parks, through major cities, and even take a romantic picnic in one to the beach. They have even developed bikes that can be operated by those who are disabled, thus making biking accessible to everyone.

So next time you're thinking of a great thing to do on a nice summer day, why not take out the old Bicycles, load them into the family car and start exploring. It will take you back to the days where the world truly was your oyster. |
